Seven Eleven Blog Hop

10Oct

Posted by S.C. Ellington in She Said What Leave a Comment

It’s OCTOBER! My son has been ON MY BACK about wearing his Ninja Turtle costume for the last seven months…seven months people. That’s too dang long to keep saying no. So FINALLY I got to say yes last week. Thank goodness.

Anyway, I’m still working on If I Fall, and trying to get all my characters in check before I show anymore of Reid and Callie’s story. But…if you’re here then guess what? You get to see seven lines from the book, so here they are.

“Cal,” he muttered anxiously against my skin, my name on his tongue bringing me pure bliss. Satisfaction. The final stoke I needed to transform the smoldering fire within my gut into a heated storm of desire. I pulled his mouth away from my neck, searching the depths of his deep water blues. I lifted my mouth to his, the touch of his lips on mine sending fierce sparks down my spine. My fingers clutch the collar of his shirt, forcing him closer. With each sweet taste—I fell.

Have you added If I Fall to your TBR list yet?

Also, make sure you check out the AWESOME giveaway below!

Cheers,

S.C.

San Francisco Author Event 2015

09Aug

Posted by S.C. Ellington in She Said What Leave a Comment

You guys I had THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIME at the San Francisco Author Event. If we met there, I’m so glad. If you weren’t able to make it, you missed out! I met so many amazing authors and readers.

I feel so lucky to be apart of the indie community, and even more than that, fortunate that there are readers like you who take a chance on me and my writing daily.

Speaking of writing, while I was at SFGGAE a new idea for a project fluttered into my mind, and I cannot wait to get started on it, but right now I seriously need to finish If I Fall, which I know a lot of you are desperately waiting to get your hands on! I’m actually at the point where I have renamed the file, “finish this damn book,” which says a lot. At east it keeps me honest…and writing—both good things in my opinion.

Here’s a list of things I learned at SFGGAE:

Nadine Colling is a BOSS!

Skye Turner is a great inspiration.

Lauren Stewart is a riot…#dnf #dnf

Tia Louise is the sweetest person.

Amanda Maxlyn moves fast on the first date <–she accidentally grabbed my butt…I’ll leave it at that.

Katy Regnery has the best swag…

and this event went down in the history books, filed under best signing ever!

Hopefully later in the week I’ll have a teaser or two from If I Fall for you all! This story has taken so many different turns, but I’m certain I have the storyline just where I want it. Stay tuned!

LIFE IS A WHIRLWIND

11Jun

Posted by S.C. Ellington in She Said What Leave a Comment

GOSH! It has been a whirlwind last couple of weeks…I’ve had so many changes in my personal life it is insane. Literally.

While I wish I could say that I have been writing beneath candlelight, without showering in two weeks–can you even imagine this?–I just haven’t had the words. I will be working on If I Fall as soon as the characters start speaking again, which I hope is sooner than later!

What I can say is that Reid and Callie are very complicated characters. They have very twisted lives and fates, so much so that I just want to make sure that I’m doing their story justice. I will never rush to put out a book for the sake of having something on the shelf–that wouldn’t be fair to anyone. But back to Reid—

Reid wants to somehow save Callie, but I think in some ways Callie wants to save him too, but neither know how to do that exactly. Especially not when tragedy strikes both of them in very unsavory ways. Which leads me to my next point:

Just as in Unsettled and Surrounded, there were both non fictional events and fiction mixed in. That being said, I love to infuse real life fun and drama into my stories and I wonder if you–my readers–enjoy that too.

For the next month or so I’m going to be listening to my readers about obstacles and all the perfect moments that twisted them together or pulled them apart from a person they loved. If you want to be a part of my writing process–which I’d love–just comment on this blog post or head over to my Facebook fan group–where more people stalk me. I mean it–STALK ME!!

Now don’t forget, I have a newsletter, so make sure you sign up to receive exclusive giveaway information and other fun goodies! You can sign up for my newsletter here: http://www.scellington.com.

An Open Letter To My Boys

08May

Posted by S.C. Ellington in She Said What Leave a Comment

myboys

For My Boys,

People ask me all the time—how is it having kids?

My answer: Motherhood is the most daunting and tiresome job you’ll ever have…but it is also the most important and amazing experience you’ll probably ever have in your lifetime.

I still believe this.

You two make all my minutes and seconds amount to everything. Time is always something we want more of but simply can’t have–so while I have it, I want to make sure I tell both of you boys one important thing that hopefully you feel more than just hear me say.

I love you. More than myself. More than my life.

I am privileged and honored to be your mother. Donovan, while you were first to join our clan of two, you have brought so many smiles to my face. And Trent, well what can I say–you’re four months old now, and I am so thankful you still think I am cool enough to cuddle with.

I always thought I was ready for motherhood–ready for the challenges it presented, but the fact of the matter is I had no flipping idea how you two little bundles in blue could change my world in such an amazing way.

Through my actions, I hope to show you what it means to believe in yourself and how one day, hard work inevitably pays off. Dreams take practice, patience, hope, love, prayers and a lot of faith. Sometimes you’ll run short on all the above, but as long as you have love and drive, you’ll be able to pursue whatever your heart desires.

I endeavor to be the best mom I know how, staying up late, making cupcakes for the birthday bonanza I promised, although I never lie to you–unless it is about Santa or the time, Donovan, you brought home that picture that looked like a green pickle and got upset when me and your Dad couldn’t for the life of us see that it was a Whale…other than that though, I’ll always be open and honest with you boys. I don’t know how to be any other way, and as much as I wish to shield you from every scrapped knee, rude comment, or bully, I know that at some point I’ll have to let you venture into the world on your own, and frankly that concept both hurts my heart but makes me smile as one day I pray you’ll grow into men that are strong and respectful just like your father.

So this Mother’s Day I don’t need diamonds or pearls—I am perfectly content clinging to the hope that you won’t grow up and that you’ll need me always, although I know this isn’t true. So for now I’ll take comfort in knowing that there is nothing wrong with enjoying all the little moments that we’ll share that will make me smile and laugh uncontrollably.

Life is hard when you don’t have someone to hold your hand, but I will always be there for you whenever you need me because that’s what I do. I’m your mom.

Love you always,

Mommy

P.S.

Dear Husband—if you’re reading this, you aren’t exempt from getting me a Mother’s Day gift—diamonds are always appreciated. Love you loads! Smooches! 😉

Seven 11 blog hopSeems like ages since I blogged last! I’ve had so many things going on, I haven’t had much time, but I’m squirreling away now to write to all you lovelies.

I’m fervently working on If I Fall. A few plot twists later, I think I have a clear vision for Reid and Callie’s story. Oh did I mention I changed the characters names? I’m excited about that. I still don’t have release date–but ho hum, I’ll figure it out soonish–is that even a word?

Anyway! Here is seven lines from my current WIP! Enjoy! And make sure you check out my fellow blog hoppers, Steph Nuss and Felicia Tatum. There links are below!

Enjoy!

“Hey mom, what’s up?” The vending machine spit out my dollar bill for the third time. “Piece of shit.” I crumpled my dollar bill and shoved it back into my pocket. “You caught me at a good time. Just taking my fifteen minute break, but this damn vending machine won’t take my money.”
“Excuse me?” My blonde bangs poked from underneath my beanie, tickling my eyes.
“Darn. I meant darn, Mom.”
“I meant the other word. There are so many ways to express yourself without cursing, Reid.”
“Yeah, Mom, I know. You’ve been saying that for years, but somehow saying gosh darn it just doesn’t do it for me. Shit and fuck just kind of have a ring to them, ya know?”
“I’m going to pretend those words didn’t just come out of your mouth.”

IF I FALL ~ A RUPTURED HEARTS NOVEL

Guess what?! I have a new love! Can you guess what it is? Why a story of course! The first story is titled, If I fall. As of right now I’m thinking this will be a series featuring different characters but we shall see! I’m not really a planner. Me and Keury (my Keurig) will probably need to ponder this over with a few cups of hot chocolate. Happiness is reading a really great book and then finding out it’s a series, right?

I’m trying a couple different things this year to give you my readers—my loves—the opportunity to be more of my writing process. I truly do value your opinions!

For this novel, I have a name in mind, but want to hear from you as well. Over the next two weeks I’ll be tallying votes. The results of the poll will be available on February 20, 2015. Stop by my blog to find out the next book boyfriend you’ll get to meet and keep you cozy at night!

Seven 11 blog hop

January 11, 2015! We made it to another year. For me personally, I’m thankful for everything that happened in 2014, whether it was by way of my career or making strides in my personal life. On December 15, 2014, my husband and I welcomed our second child into the world, and for that I am completely and utterly blessed and thankful. So 2014 will certainly be a year to remember and never forget.

For 2015, I’ve teamed up with a great group of authors to participate in Seven 11 Blog Hops. So without further ado, here are seven lines from my upcoming novel, If I Fall.

Happy reading!

He shocked me with how easy it was for him to say we were over when I had barely given myself a moments breath to comprehend what all this meant.
I struggled to pull myself together, hugging my middle tightly. I needed to keep some level of composure. I would not let him completely break me. “Well that’s the best news I’ve heard all day,” I lied. I wondered if one day he would regret what he’d done. In a year, six months even, would she still be worth it? Would the way that he had scorched her skin with kisses seconds earlier be the salve that he needed when he realized that I would be gone from his life forever?

BONUS TIME!

Check out these other authors who have agreed to share seven lines from their upcoming books. Get a behind the scenes glimpse of 5 stories!
